Undefeated North Shore Defeats Atascocita 61-35

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

Week 10 of Texas High School Football is here! There are tons of great matchups this week, but the one everyone is talking about is The Atascocita Eagles (8-1) vs The North Shore Mustangs (9-0). This is the most anticipated game of the entire season not only are they both undefeated, but these are the current top 2 teams in Houston, with Atascocita at #1 and North Shore at #2.

Atascocita kick off to North Shore. Atascocita stopped North Shore on the goal line and got a turnover on downs, but the next play, Mustangs’ defensive lineman #93 Cedric Henderson tackled Eagles running back #14 Cardae Mack in the end zone, giving North Shore a safety, making the score 2-0. With about 3 minutes left in the 1st quarter, Mustangs’ quarterback #9 Kaleb Bailey connects with wide receiver #4 Terrence Guillory for a 26-yard touchdown pass. Atascocita doesn’t take this sitting down in the next two plays, quarterback #1 Zion Brown finds an opening and rushes in for an 84-yard touchdown run. The game kept on heating up before the end of the quarter. Kaleb also found a hole and rushed in for a 53-yard touchdown run, ending 1st quarter with a score of 16-7.

In the 2nd quarter Eagles had possession trying to take the momentum Zion looked for a receiver, but Mustangs’ top cornerback in the nation, #6 Devin Sanchez, caught an interception and returned for a pick-six 35-yard touchdown. Never a dull moment as soon as Atascocita gets back the ball, Zion connects with running back #6 Tory Blaylock for a 56-yard touchdown. Halfway through the 2nd quarter, Kaleb connected to Terrence again for a 73-yard touchdown pass. Right before the end of the quarter, North Shore kicks a field goal to further their lead and the half ends with a score of 33-14.

North Shore kicks off to Atascocita within a minute, Zion connects with #5 Kyran Lee for a 36-yard touchdown pass, and a 2-pt conversion was successful. North Shore receives the ball back, and in no time, running back #28, D’andre Hardeman gets the handoff through the hole with explosive speed and rushes for a 63-yard touchdown. Zion threw an amazing pass to #12 Cameron Glenn that helped result in another touchdown pass to Kyran. Then Mustangs’ running back #26 Chris Thomas 1st, play back on offense, goes untouched for a 75-yard touchdown run. Both teams have scored two touchdowns each, only 3 minutes into the 2nd half, but Chris had the last touchdown of the 3rd quarter they went into the 4th quarter with a score of 47-28.

In the 4th, Kaleb connects again with Terrence for his 3rd touchdown pass of the game. Atascocita’s defense was struggling as Kaleb threw a 58-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver #2 Christopher Barnes. Atascocita fought hard till the last second before the end of the game. Zion connected to Kyran for his 3rd touchdown of the game. The final score was 61-35, with North Shore remaining undefeated.

Despite the score, this was an amazing game they’re two of the top teams in the state for a reason. I’m looking forward to seeing how they both do during the playoffs and, if possible, an exciting rematch between them.
