1A Team of the Week: Miami Warriors
Miami needed a win to stay alive in the playoff race as the Warriors headed into a 1-1A Division I showdown against McLean last Friday.
Luckily for the Warriors, quarterback Haiden Thompson delivered when they needed it the most.
Thompson rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns, while adding 170 yards passing and two scores through the air.
Meanwhile, freshmen Micah Hinshaw led the receiving corps with three catches for 68 yards and a score (highlights below).
Behind Thompson’s offensive production, Miami was able to overcome a fourth quarter deficit and eke out a crucial 40-38 victory.
The win puts Miami on the brink of its third consecutive playoff berth. Heading into their season finale, the Warriors will need a win against a White Deer side that is still looking for its first win in district play.
However, a win won’t come easy as White Deer can get back in the playoff picture with a win and a McLean loss against Follett, making 1-1A Division I a district to watch this Friday.
