6A Team of the Week: Prosper Eagles
For the second straight year, Prosper took care of business against the biggest school in Texas.
However, it didn’t come easy.
The game lasted all the way until midnight as the teams had to navigate two weather delays in the buildup to the game on a stormy night in the DFW area.
Once proceedings finally got underway a little after 9:00 p.m., Allen jumped out to an early 14-2 lead in the first quarter.
However, Prosper’s run game and defense allowed the Eagles to come soaring back.
Prosper running back Trevor Montanye broke free for a 65-yard touchdown run, while power back Luke Johnson turned an interception and a forced fumble by the Prosper defense into two short yardage touchdown runs.

That barrage of second half touchdown runs gave Prosper a 23-17 halftime lead, a lead it wouldn’t relinquish in the second half as it held onto a key 29-24 victory.
Montanye finished 128 yards and a score, while junior Prentice Sanders also contributed 58 yads on 11 carries.
The win was a vital one as it ensures Prosper will be the number one seed in the 6A Division I playoffs from its district.
FINAL: Prosper 29, Allen 24
Prosper weathers a 15-pt deficit by scoring 27 straight to hand Allen its 2nd straight loss. Prosper got it done in all 3 phases, improving to 8-1 on the year and 5-1 in 5-6A. Prosper will be the top seed for the 6A D1 playoffs, Allen will be bottom. pic.twitter.com/IG1IB6Aqpz
