It’s not that no one expected these two teams to be good, it’s that there were some that didn’t expect them to be this good.
In all the games that will be played this Friday, this one is probably the most underrated. Rowlett edged out two very good teams in Rockwall and Lewisville before taking it to Plano this past week. Quarterback Preston Weeks is cool under pressure, and knows how to win the close games. For Rowlett though, it’s all about the defense. Defensive back Trenton Gordon has some wheels on him, and will look to shut down the Keller Fossil Ridge attack.
Fossil Ridge might have the best kept secret in the state in DE Tyler Mitchell. The kid has some serious wheels and he’s strong in run support as well. Quarterback Max Akin is more than solid as well.
Both of these teams definitely qualify as under the radar teams, and that’s why this game will be special. It’s outside of district play, so it won’t have a direct effect on the playoffs, but this is essentially a second or third round playoff game in Week Four. We’re really excited about this one.
