1A Six Man
Week 8 Texas HS Football 1A Team of the Week
The offensive shootout of the week in six-man football took place just off State Highway 174 as Blum and Milford tangled in a key District 11-1A Division I matchup.
With both teams winning their district opener, they knew another win would go a long way to clinching one of the district’s two playoff berths.
Milford led 44-24 at one point, but 32-straight points by Blum, thanks in part to three touchdown passes by Bobcat quarterback Lane Williams, meant the Bobcats had flipped the script midway through the third quarter.
Blum led 68-60 heading into the fourth quarter, but Milford tied proceedings up with just ninety seconds left as Preston Galindo connected with Kurtis Smith for a 27-yard touchdown.
With the chance to take control of the district title race hanging in the balance, Blum embarked on an 8-play, 60-yard drive. Bobcat running back Laine Goode finished off the drive with the game-winning three-yard touchdown with just three seconds left to seal a 76-68 victory for Blum.
Goode finished with 128 yards and four touchdowns on the ground, while Williams threw for 108 yards and three scores.
The win moves Blum to 2-0 in district play and 4-4 on the season overall. Next up, Blum will travel to Three Way as the Bobcats look to maintain their grip on first place in the district.
