Dripping Springs renewed acquaintances with Lake Travis for the first time since 2011 this past week in a highly anticipated District 25-6A showdown.
The Tigers have been highly touted this year and were ranked number 17 in 6A heading into the game. However, the question remained whether they could knock off a 6A heavyweight like Lake Travis.
But on Friday, Dripping Springs passed its test with flying colors.
Baylor commit quarterback Austin Novosad threw for 219 yards and two scores, while running back Kade Curry added 180 yards and two additional scores on the ground.
The game was a back-and-forth affair with three ties and three lead changes in the second half alone.
With four minutes left, Dripping Springs tied proceedings up at 31 as Novosad found Garon Duncan for a 37-yard score.
The Tigers weren’t done.
As the clock ticked down to under 20 seconds, Curry took a handoff, bided his time, and then cut it up through the Lake Travis defense for the game-winning 12-yard touchdown.
With the victory, Dripping Springs has almost certainly clinched second place in the district. Next up for the streaking Tigers will be a home game against Del Valle this Friday.
