6A Team of the Week: San Angelo Central Bobcats
The scoreboard operator in San Angelo had a busy night on Friday.
However, it looked like the home team was going to come up short, trailing 61-57 against Abilene Wylie with just one play left in the game.
Bobcat quarterback Tyler Hill had other ideas.
Taking a snap from the Wylie 40 yard line, he scrambled back over 20 yards, somehow slipping free of a surefire sack, before eventually letting the ball fly around midfield.
Improbably, Bobcat receiver Benjamin Imler came down with the ball at the ten yard line, evading two more Wylie defenders, before racing to the far corner for a Hail Mary touchdown.
Hill and Imler both had massive nights as Hill finished with 246 passing yards, 271 rushing yards, and seven total touchdowns, while Imler caught six passes for 119 yards and three touchdowns.
They proved tough to contain all the way down to the final play as San Angelo Central finished non-district play with a 3-2 record following their late-game heroics.
