6A Team of the Week: Prosper Eagles
Prosper and its fans had been waiting a long time for Friday night. The Eagles knocked off Denton Guyer, the tenth ranked team in the state, 31-28 at home causing its student section to storm the field.
The victory was especially sweet considering the playoff heartbreak the Wildcats have caused Prosper in recent years. Guyer sent the Eagles home in a triple overtime defeat in 2020 before edging them by three in 2021.
Nathan TenBarge led the Eagle passing attack with 93 yards and a touchdown, but the ground game is where the real damage was done. Leonel Anguiano rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns, TenBarge added 81 yards and a score, and Joshua Martinez had 60 yards on 13 carries.

That rushing attack helped Prosper build a 31-15 lead heading into the fourth quarter, which proved to be just enough cushion. Guyer added two fourth quarter touchdowns but couldn’t come up with the last score it needed.
Next up, the Eagles will take on their neighbor Rock Hill in their second District 5-6A contest. They will be aiming for their first 2-0 start in district play since 2019.
