6A Team of the Week: Cinco Ranch Cougars
After knocking off Katy Taylor 49-28 in its district opener, Cinco Ranch looked to keep the momentum going heading into a tough home contest against #12 Katy Tompkins.
The Cougars delivered.
Tompkins jumped out to a 14-7 lead in the first quarter, but the rest of the game was all Cinco Ranch.
Senior quarterback Gavin Rutherford threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns while senior Sam McKnight paced the ground game with 93 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

It was the first win for Cinco Ranch against Tompkins since 2018.
Next up for the Cougars will be an away contest against Morton Ranch this Thursday.
