Week One 6A Team of the Week: Arlington Sam Houston
6A Team of the Week: Arlington Sam Houston Texans
Last Thursday, for the first time since September 17, 2021, Arlington Sam Houston found the win column. The Texans didn’t just sneak in there either. They dominated Nimitz 24-3 in their season opener.
Texan running back Jaylen Harper opened the game by spinning away from the Nimitz defense for a highlight-reel 30-yard touchdown run. From there, quarterback Kenneth Jones took over.
He connected with running back Devon Dawkins on 27-yard and two-yard touchdowns to give Sam Houston an 18-3 halftime lead. Then he added some icing on the cake with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Carlos Santillan in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

The win was also the first for Chris James as the head coach of the Texans.
He and his squad will now look to keep the momentum going this week when they host talented 5A side Burleson Centennial on Friday at 7:00.
