It looked like the game was going the way of the favorites as Cy-Fair led 30-21 after three quarters of play. However, the Bears didn’t give up. Bridgeland kicker Santi Torres nailed a field goal with eight minutes to go to make it a one-possession game.
Cy-Fair had a chance to extend its lead back to nine, but the Bobcats missed a field goal with just under four minutes remaining. That left the door open for the Bears and they made the most of it as Mason Simmons caught an 11-yard touchdown from Jett Lewis with just 13 seconds remaining.
Torres’ ensuing extra point sealed Bridgeland’s improbable 31-30 victory.
