Week Two 2A Team of the Week: Panhandle
2A Team of the Week: Panhandle Panthers
Last week’s number one team in 2A Division II is undefeated no more. Panhandle pulled off a big upset last Friday, taking down Stratford 33-27 in overtime. It was Stratford’s first regular season loss since September 17, 2021.
Panhandle’s first three touchdowns all came on passes from quarterback Broxton Robinson to receiver Caden Armes. The defense then stepped up late in the fourth quarter as Brayson Choate came up with a pick-six to extend Panhandle’s lead to 27-19. And even though Stratford came up with a game-tying touchdown and two-point conversion with just over a minute to go, Panhandle got the final say in overtime.
The Panthers forced the Elks to turn it over on downs before Robinson scored his fourth overall touchdown on the night on a quarterback keeper to secure the 33-27 victory.
