In a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Chicago Bears have acquired quarterback Nick Foles on Wednesday. The trade was announced on twitter by ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
QB trade: Jacksonville is trading QB Nick Foles to Chicago for the Bears’ compensatory fourth-round pick, sources tell ESPN.
Bears’ coaches such as Matt Nagy have worked with Foles in past and know him well.

In exchange for the veteran quarterback, Jacksonville will receive the Bears’ fourth-round pick. Just last year, the Westlake High School product signed a four-year, $88 million contract with the Jaguars before only making four starts in the 2019 season.
Foles broke his left clavicle during a week one loss to the Chiefs in September resulting in missing nine weeks before returning in November. Rookie Gardner Minshew ended up taking the starting job at the beginning of December. Foles threw for 736 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in only four games last season.
The 31-year-old will battle the Bears’ quarterback, Mitchell Trubisky, for the lead role. Trubisky threw for 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 15 starts last season. Trubisky is set to enter only his fourth season in the league after being drafted No. 2 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Foles’ departure is just another addition to the list of what has proven to be the Jaguars making extensive changes in their roster. The Jaguars will look to build an offense around Minshew while Foles will look to prove what he can do with the Bears. Chicago inherits the final three seasons of Foles’ contract which has a base pay of $50 million.
