The Westlake Chaparrals and the San Benito Greyhounds clashed at Chaparral Stadium last week. Westlake secured a 35-14 victory over Prosper, while San Benito suffered a 58-35 loss to United.
Westlake dominated early, leading 28-7 by the end of the first quarter. Quarterback Jax LeFevre connected with wide receivers Gavin Koester and Jonas Smith for multiple touchdowns. By halftime, the score was 35-7 in favor of Westlake, with LeFevre already amassing over 200 passing yards and three touchdowns.
San Benito struggled to find an offensive rhythm, while the defense held firm, allowing no points in the second half. Westlake’s running back Sammy McKnight added two rushing touchdowns in the third quarter, and backup quarterback Dylan Chapman threw a touchdown in the fourth, sealing a 63-7 win.
Defensively, Westlake was led by linebacker Elliott Schaper, who recorded 10 tackles and a sack. The GGreyhounds’lone score came from a 20-yard run by Marcos Martinez early in the first quarter.
Next week, Westlake faces Atascocita, who defeated Katy 41-24, while San Benito will play United, seeking their first win of the season.
