Why Do You Love Football?

Jordan Hernandez, Pearland Oilers

I love football because I am able to be myself on the field and forget everything that’s going on. It also gives me brothers and mentors, such as my coaches, who have my back and will always be there for me.

Tyler Wall, McKinney Boyd Broncos

I love football because it was the first ball I picked up. My dad was really good at it, and I just always wanted to follow in his footsteps and play at the next level.

Bradley Sowersby, Smithson Valley Rangers

It is a grind and creates a mentality that most people don’t have.

Michael Amey III, Hightower Hurricanes

I love football because it helps me get away from all of the distractions I have in life, and it helps me learn good life lessons to become a better man.

Rex Shoemaker, Giddings

I love to hit people and the hard work it takes to get better.

Christian Munguia, Randle Lions

The brotherhood and getting to enjoy the wins with my teammates after all the work we put in the off-season.

Cullen Devine, Westlake Chaparrals

I love how football is such a team sport. You could have a team of the greatest athletes in the world, but they wouldn’t succeed unless they worked well together.

Austin States, Quinlan Ford

The things the game has taught me on and off the field is why I love this game. It has taught me to always work hard under pressure and to never give up when things get rough. That I can overcome all odds and obstacles that are in my way and just generally taught me how to be a better man in life.

Kale Carr, Kountze

It’s the only place where I can let everything go.

Gil Jackson, Ridge Point

It’s fun; when I’m on the field, it’s a step away from everyone. It’s just me and the person in front of me.

Brad Stanyer, Grapevine

I love the connections I make with my brothers on the field and learning that we are all going through the tough stuff together. I also love the competition involved in the sport and getting the chance to better myself every single day.

Jayden Bradley, Rock Hill

It has always been there for me since I was 5, and I’ve loved it ever since God has given me opportunities to compete at the next level and potentially take care of my mom and family.

Brant Hargrove, Georgetown

I love being part of a team, stepping on the field, and lighting people up, and football has always been a big part of my family.

Coltyn Judd, Calhoun

Football has always been a huge part of my life. I started playing football when I was 5 years old. To this day, I still have the same love for sports as I did as a child. Football has taught me many valuable life lessons. It has taught me mental and physical toughness and how to be determined, committed, and disciplined. Football has not only taught me life lessons but has also brought me into a brotherhood that has helped me become a better person.

Carter Devero, Nolan Catholic

Helps me forget about all the world’s problems.

Swish Washington, Milford

I have been playing football since I was 4 or 5. Pretty much after that, I fell in love with the game. The people I grew up with also played football. I chose to start being a manager for the football team when I was 9 years old until I got in high school to play. We made it to state in 2018, when I also managed, and I always told myself I’d be there next.

Colton Chmelar, A&M Consolidated

My dad played football in college, so I grew up going to college games and fell in love with it. I played a lot of competitive soccer as well and eventually learned how to kick a football.  What’s not to love about kicking a ball as hard as you can through the uprights with a screaming crowd cheering you on! I think I love football the most, though, because it’s a team sport, and it requires so much more than one person’s talent to win!

Omar Martinez, La Pryor

I love football because when I’m on the field, I’m at home. I don’t feel anything on the field, but peace, and I’m at ease. There’s no better feeling than having a bad day and just being able to put on your helmet and shoulder pads. I love football cause you hear the crowd roar every time you do something good, and it’s the best feeling in the world.
