Willis Stays Undefeated With Win Over Oak Ridge

Round Rock Hail Roof Inspection

It is week 11 the last regular week for Texas High School Football until playoffs next week. The game I went to was The Willis Wildkats vs The Oak Ridge War Eagles. Both teams have some of the best athletes in the country and I was excited to see how this game turns out.

Oak Ridge kickoff to Willis. Willis drives down the field and quarterback #2 DJ Lagway rushes in for the 1st touchdown of the game. With about 4 minutes left in the 1st quarter Oak Ridge answers back with a rushing touchdown from #12 Larry Debose. The score at the end of the 1st quarter is 7-7. Willis has possession and surprisingly DJ threw an interception to defensive end #8 Favour Awodoyin giving Oak Ridge back possession at the goal line. Oak Ridge running back #5 Frankie Arthur rushes in for a touchdown allowing them to take the lead. Willis with possession drives down the field and DJ finds sophomore wide receiver #7 Jermaine Bishop he catches the ball with one hand for a touchdown. With two minutes left in the half Willis had possession again DJ threw an amazing pass to wide receiver #11 Jalen Mickens to take back the lead. Oak Ridge with possession tried to tie up the game with one more play as running back #21 Justin Hayes rushed down the field, but Willis free safety #3 Atavian Friend stopped him just short of the endzone. The score at halftime is 21-14.

Willis kickoff to Oak Ridge. After a sack from Willis Oak Ridge punts it back to Willis. In no time Willis running back #6 Daylion Robinson powered his way into the end zone for a touchdown. Willis is not done scoring yet Jermaine also plays as a defensive back and caught an interception for a pick six furthering Willis’ lead. Oak Ridge is struggling with 30 seconds left in the 3rd quarter and 4th down, but they decide to go for it and quarterback #16 Jack Emerson finds an opening and rushes in for a touchdown to end the quarter.

Going into the 4th quarter with a score of 35-21. Willis furthers their lead with a touchdown pass to #4 Debraun Hampton. Oak Ridge fought hard in the 4th quarter they scored two more touchdowns but that wasn’t enough especially after DJ rushed for another touchdown for Wills making the final score 49-35 Willis finished the season undefeated for the 1st time ever.
