The NCAA’s all-time leader in receptions has an NFL team to call home. East Carolina wide receiver Zay Jones was picked with the fifth pick in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.

The Austin High graduate is the son of Robert Jones, who also played at East Carolina and was the 24th overall pick in the 1992 draft by the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones burst on to the scene thanks to an impressive senior season which saw put up 158 catches for 1,746 yards and 8 touchdowns. He finished with a stellar 399 catches for his career, breaking the record previously held by ECU predecessor Justin Hardy.

Jones has been a model of consistency when it comes to catching the football and the tough receiver now has his chance. There had been some speculation that Jones would be a late first round selection but either way, Jones will be ready to suit up for the Bills this season.
