Just one day after picking up an offer from Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M, Friendswood Clear Brook wide receiver Caleb Chapman announced his commitment to the Aggies on Saturday.

“This moment is crazy right now for my family,” Chapman, a Texas A&M legacy, told Scout.com of his recruitment. “Everybody is geeked with joy because we have had generations go through A&M, so it’s awesome to be able to carry on this legacy and to play for them is a dream come true and for my family and I.

“It was very exciting because my granddad, who I was very close to, went to A&M and loved A&M and it’s all he talked about, and him passing away this year makes it very emotional. I know he’s looking down on me through my process and ‘whoop’n’ it up overjoyed.”

A three-star prospect, Chapman is a ideal blend of size and speed, standing at a towering 6’5 with sub-4.5 40-yard dash speed. Such a combination allowed the Clear Brook product to haul in 64 receptions for 1,049 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior, which led to an influx of offers throughout the offseason.

To date, Chapman holds 30 total offers with invitations from programs such as Oregon, TCU, West Virginia, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas State and Houston, among others.

Now committed to Texas A&M, though, Chapman gives Sumin’s 2018 class commit No. 14 and its first in more than a month. The Aggies’ class now ranks No. 13 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC, trailing Tennessee, LSU and Florida.

Chapman is ranked as the nation’s No. 429 player, No. 79 wide receiver and the No. 61 player in Texas, per 247Sports Composite.
