If you’re a high school, middle school or youth football player chances are you’re reading this because you’re looking to improve your game, and you have big football dreams.  But let’s face facts, a million guys your age across the country have that same dream.  The question is, what are you going to do about it?

Before I give you the answer to the two days that must be on your calendar that will drastically improve your game I want to tell you a little about what it takes to turn your dream into a reality.

First, you have to decide that you are going to achieve your dreams.

Thats right, make a decision that you will be successful and nothing will stop you…nothing! If your dream is to earn that D1 scholarship, or to play in the NFL the first step is for you to see this in your mind as if it has already happened. From this point forward you need to dedicate yourself to that decision.

Here’s the facts, in the 2016-17 school year there were approximately 1,093,234 high school football players in the United States. Only 2.6% of those players are now playing football at an NCAA D1 school.  That means only 28,424 players out 1,093,234 earned a chance to play D1 football!   Source: NCAA

Deciding that you’re going to achieve your dreams has never been more important.

By the way, there will always be people in your life that will try to tell you it’s not possible. Part of deciding you are going to win means not listening to the people who are dragging you down. Instead, surround yourself with family, friends and coaches who want to see you succeed and live your dream.

Second, you have to be determined to be successful. This means training hard in the offseason. This doesn’t mean train to be a powerlifter this means train to perfect your craft at your position. Be determined to set a strict offseason training regimen and jump on every opportunity you have to learn from those that have been where you want to go.  Players and coaches who have played or coached in the NFL are one of your greatest assets.  Nothing can replace the wisdom gained from experience.

To some people just talking about this level of dedication scares them, For those of you I haven’t scared off I’ll be sharing how you can meet coaches with NFL experience shortly.

The next step in your journey is sacrifice. You have to be willing to sacrifice a lot to achieve your goal. This might mean not hanging out with the guys on the weekend because it interferes with studying or training. Not only is your regimen of training important, but your grades carry serious weight and a long lasting effect on your life. Your education is also the one thing that nobody can take from you. The one thing all football players have in common is that it (football) in one way or another will be taken from you as a player. One day it will end because you’re not able to continue to the next level, or age has taken its toll and you just don’t have what it takes anymore. Your education on the other hand is something that can never be taken from you, and will effect your life after football.

Making it to the Big Show

You say your dream is to make it to the NFL. Here’s some stats that should inspire you to dedicate your life to the dream. Just .08% of high school senior football players will be drafted.  That means 8 out of every 10,000 high school senior football players will get drafted and have an opportunity to make and NFL roster.

Now that you now the odds and a little bit about what it will take to get you there I want to tell you about the two days every player needs to have on his calendar. Every offseason Football University comes to Texas with their NFL experienced coaching staff to not only make you a better player, but get you on the map with college recruiters from across the country. Below are the dates that MUST be on your calendar.

Football University Texas Camp Dates

San Antonio March 17-18       Houston March 24-25      Austin April 7-8

The FBU difference

There are a lot of football camp companies out there that boast that they are the best.  In my opinion as a former D1 and NFL player there isn’t a football camp in the country that can compare to what Football University has to offer. The FBU effect goes deeper than their NFL experienced coaches, they are the complete package of coaching, college exposure and media attention.

The recruiting landscape has never been more competitive than it is today. A player has to be on their game in every aspect, and FBU has positioned itself as a company to be a complete resource for the athlete on a mission.

Factoid: All American Games Inc. (FBU’s parent company) also puts on the number 1 high school all-star game in the country, the US Army All- American Bowl.
