Our No. 2 North Crowley Panthers made a strong statement Friday night, pulling away from No. 4 Waxahachie for a 42-17 win at Lumpkins Stadium.
This was one of the biggest games on the Texas High School football schedule, matching two of the top four teams in our statewide rankings. North Crowley entered as one of the clear contenders behind No. 1 Allen, while Waxahachie brought one of the state’s most explosive offenses into the matchup.
North Crowley controlled the game early. The Panthers built a 21-0 lead behind a rushing attack that consistently found room against the Waxahachie defense. Waxahachie finally answered late in the second quarter on a 28-yard touchdown run by quarterback Jerry Meyer III, cutting the halftime deficit to 21-7.
A field goal brought Waxahachie within 21-10 early in the third, but that was as close as it would get.
Kiante Ingram broke loose for a 35-yard touchdown, Jacob Torres connected with Damarion Mays for an 84-yard score, and G’Yrell Smith added a 60-yard touchdown run as North Crowley quickly turned a competitive game into a comfortable lead.
The Panthers finished with 514 total yards, including 299 on the ground. Ingram rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns, while Smith added 116 yards and three scores.
Torres was nearly flawless, completing all 11 of his passes for 215 yards and a touchdown. Mays finished with 115 receiving yards.
North Crowley’s defense also slowed a Waxahachie offense that had been averaging more than 50 points per game. Meyer finished with 112 passing yards and led the Indians with 96 rushing yards.
North Crowley improves to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in district play, strengthening its position as our No. 2 team in Texas. Waxahachie falls to 5-1 and 2-1 in district.
