Lovejoy and Allen close to naming a new head coach

Lovejoy officials are expected to announce Todd Ford of Cedar Ridge to be the Leopards’ next Texas high school football coach. Ford was among a highly competitive group of finalists which included Terry Gambill of Waco Midway (the favorite to be named at Allen at Monday’s school board meeting); Brandon Faircloth of Port-Neches-Groves (Matthew Stafford’s QB coach at Highland Park) and Kerrville Tivy’s David Jones. Todd Kaufmann of texasportsinsiders.com reported Ford was offered the position Wednesday.
