Editor’s note: We will not be doing rankings this week, as we feel like rankings are useless once the playoffs start. Our four full-time writers will be picking the closest matchups in each region from each division in each classification. Here are our picks for 3A Division 2.
Region 1
Canadian – IIII
Eastland –
Advantage: Canadian, 4 picks to 0
Reasoning: You just don’t pick against Canadian in the playoffs, especially when they’re on a roll like the one they are. The Wildcats dropped some early games to good teams, but haven’t been scored on in four weeks.
Region 2
Henrietta – II
Big Sandy Harmony – II
Advantage: Push
Reasoning: Both of these teams have the same record, and we can’t find any glaring advantages in any one of them. This one will be incredibly close.
Region 3
New Waverly –
Arp – IIII
Advantage: Arp, 4 picks to 0
Reasoning: Arp has played some very, very good teams and has won some very difficult games. In the playoffs, you don’t get a chance to get back up after being hit in the mouth. Arp’s been there more times than New Waverly, so they get our nod.
Region 4
Tidehaven – I
Odem – III
Advantage: Odem, 3 picks to 1
Reasoning: Odem has one very, very bad loss to George Wast. Tidehaven’s had a great season, but Odem is just a little bit better at this point in the season.
