Region I vs. Region II

Aledo– 4
Mesquite Poteet– 0

Advantage: Aledo

Reasoning: The Aledo Bearcats have been on an absolute tear this season. But they may have one of their toughest tests of the year going up against a Mesquite Poteet squad looking to break through to their first state title game. The Pirates are riding high after a win over Lancaster and bring a talented offense into this matchup.

That said, Aledo appears to be on a completely different level right now. With an offense averaging more than 560 yards per game, the Bearcats just have too much firepower for the Pirates to contain as they’ll be hungry to return to the title game.

Region III vs. Region IV

College Station– 1
Corpus Christi Calallen– 3

Advantage: Corpus Christi Calallen

Reasoning: This is a very intriguing matchup. College Station enters this game at 14-0 and has had a special year to this point. Quarterback Marquez Perez will be tough to stop. Calallen has also had a special year with head coach Phil Danaher becoming the all-time winningest coach in Texas earlier this year.

There is something to be said for a team to think that this is “their year”. It just might be the year for Danaher and the Wildcats to make it back to that elusive state title game for the first time in more than a decade. Expect a tightly contested game until the bitter end.
