With just two weeks remaining before the much anticipated 2019 High School Football Playoffs, there is still a lot to be decided in one of the most competitive districts this year, 6A District 10. There are still 7 teams who have an opportunity at one of the four final playoffs spots. Wylie, Rowlett and 2018 District champion Sachse are all tied for first atop the division with records of 4-1.
Last Friday night, Wylie took on Naaman Forest, who currently sits at 5th in the district in a cold wet defensive battle. Wylie would survive and hold on to win 14-6. The Wylie defense this year has recorded 7 Interceptions, 2 of which by Senior Defensive Back Joseph Corso. Wylie is in control of its own destiny on their quest for a district championship. They take on 4th place North Garland on Friday November 1st before their senior night game the next week against South Garland.
Since a 22-21 September loss to Wylie, 2018 champion Sachse has won 4 games in a row. Junior Running Back Shon Coleman looks to eclipse the 1,000 yard mark as he now has 900 yards with 8 touchdowns with 2 games remaining. One against Garland and the other, a huge home matchup against Rowlett.
Rowlett High may have the toughest ending of the season of the 3 first place contenders. This week they take on a Lakeview Centennial that is only a game out of first place. Then, for their final regular season game, a possible district title matchup could take place as they travel to Sachse for a senior night road game.
