7 Teams Appealing UIL Redistricting
The UIL announced the new district assignments on February 1st. While there were several questions Texas high school football fans had about some of the redistricting, such as why DeSoto stayed in 6A, or why some teams were placed into districts in which they’d have to travel two to three hours for several of their games, there were just seven teams to officially appeal their district assignment (there were an additional 5 schools that are appealing their basketball or volleyball district assignments).
The appeals will be heard on Tuesday, February 20th.
Here are the schools appealing:
Lufkin Panthers
Lufkin was placed in 7-5A D1 and wants to be in 9-5A D1
Angleton Wildcats
Angleton was placed in 11-5A D1 and wants to be in 9-5A D1
Spring Woods Tigers
Springs Woods was placed in 10-5A D1 and wants to be in 11-5A D1
Victoria West Warriors
Victoria West was placed in 14-5A D2 and wants to be in 13-5A D2
Harlandale Indians
Harandale was placed in 12-5A D2 and wants to be in 13-5A D2
McCollum Cowboys
McCollum was placed in 12-5A D2 and wants to be in 13-5A D2
Smithville Tigers
Smithville was placed in 11-4A D2 and wants to be in 13-5A D2
