Top Quarterback Ruled Ineligible

Austin Roof Inspection

North Crowley’s promising junior quarterback, Jacob Torres—a transfer from Burleson Centennial—won’t be eligible for the upcoming season, as confirmed by head coach Ray Gates.

The quarterback had a standout sophomore year, leaving Burleson Centennial with over 2,000 passing yards, 200 rushing yards, and 23 total touchdowns, earning District 7-5A Division I Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors. Torres began his high school journey at North Crowley, returned after a lightning strike damaged his home, and is currently training outside of official school practices. He’s been seen working out with top prospects like Southlake Carroll receiver Brock Boyd and getting quarterback coaching from regional specialists.

With Torres off the field, North Crowley now faces a quarterback competition featuring senior DeMarcus Harris, senior CJ Alexander, and three-star junior Hayes Cloutier—a transfer from California. The Panthers are also filling the void left by last year’s record-setting QB, Chris Jimerson Jr., who threw for 3,769 yards and 58 touchdowns en route to a Class 6A Division II state championship. The team’s offseason strategy includes adding four-star receiver Damarion Mays and cornerback Jerry Outhouse Jr. to bolster both offense and defense.
