Anna Dominates Lovejoy 45-14 in Statement Win

Anna erased any memory of last year’s shootout losses with a commanding 45-14 win over Lucas Lovejoy on Friday night.

Quarterback Ziondre Williams put on a spectacular show. The dual-threat star threw for 268 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 180 yards and another score. Three of those touchdown passes and his 72-yard scoring run came during a decisive third quarter.

The Coyotes built a 10-0 first-quarter lead behind a 47-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Roaen Nylander and a 33-yard Desmar Marroquin field goal. Ace Traylor’s 2-yard run late in the second kept Anna ahead 17-14 at halftime.

Lovejoy quarterback Jacob Janecek threw for two first-half touchdowns, but the Leopards’ offense stalled after the break.

Anna (3-0) opened district play with a statement, controlling the line of scrimmage and forcing key turnovers. Lovejoy (2-2) will regroup after seeing a potent offense silenced in the second half.

With their balanced attack and fierce defense, the Coyotes proved they’re a serious contender in District 4-5A Division II.
