Odessa Bronchos 2026 Season Preview
Odessa Bronchos
Head Coach: Erik Hartman (3rd season; 3-16 record)
Last Season: 1-9; 0-5 in district
Returning Lettermen: 22 (4 returning starters on offense; 6 on defense)
Odessa Key Players and Storylines
Odessa has yet to win a district game in Erik Hartman’s first two seasons, but he’s hopeful that a changing culture will lead to that breakthrough.
Hard work and determination will be this group’s calling card. It also helps to have a returning quarterback in playmaking junior Phillip Carrasco (1,656 passing yards and 11 touchdowns). His protection will be anchored by three-year starter tackle Cesar Carrasco, who earned an all-district honorable mention a year ago.
Six returning starters should boost a defense that allowed over 46 points per game last season. Any improvement will start in the secondary. That group returns last year’s leading tackler Andrew Rios (89 tackles) at safety, reliable cornerback Adrian Escandon (47 tackles), and playmaking safety/linebacker Lionel Green (33 tackles).
In front of them, Hartman expects linebacker Devin Padilla to be the “leader of the defense.”
The deck is still stacked against the Bronchos with a lack of size and numbers, but Hartman is confident this group will be stronger this fall with their attitude and effort they’ve displayed so far.
