Southlake Carroll Key Players and Storylines
There’s a new sheriff in town for Southlake Carroll. After Riley Dodge departed to take a job on the SMU football staff, the Dragons promoted highly popular defensive coordinator Lee Munn to take over the program.
It’s a good thing he brings that defensive pedigree because the Dragons don’t return a single starter from last year on that side of the ball. Linebacker Landon Harris (39 tackles, two TFLs) ranked tenth in total tackles on last year’s squad while defensive end Kyle Duross (33 tackles, five TFLs) finished 13th. Both will be vaulted into leadership positions this year with their football IQ.
The offense is a different story. The Dragons have a brick wall of an offensive line with two Power Four commits in guard/center Tristan Dare and tackle Luke Wilson. The receiving corps is just as talented with prolific senior Blake Gunter (1,224 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns) and red zone threat 6’4.5” Brody Knowles (816 receiving yards and seven touchdowns).

Quarterback is one of many positions where the Dragons won’t have a ton of playing experience. Still, Munn said this group is connected and will look to lean on a culture that has led the Dragons to nine-straight regional finals.
