Skyline Key Players and Storylines
It was a struggle for Skyline last year in the gauntlet that is District 11-6A. The Raiders managed just one win and only scored 65 total points across nine games.
However, 2026 should be different with a full offseason under head coach Jason Garrett and his staff. The Raiders also like the mix of youth and experience they have with 14 returning starters.
Offensively, the keys belong to a trio of juniors. Quarterback Temi Akinola has the belief of the locker room after showing off his “pinpoint accuracy in his intermediate throws” in limited appearances last season. Receiver Quawnterist Harris is an electric option with his “elite twitch,” while the Raiders’ coaching staff expects running back Tenard Counter to be a natural fit leading the ground game.
Defensively, there are three more promising juniors leading the way. The Raiders are stacked in the middle of the field with returning first team all-district linebacker Jaettan Stewart and fellow linebacker Mark Wren, who “looks like a Saturday player already.” On the outside, cornerback Corey Turner has a ton of potential after taking on the best of the best as just a sophomore last season.

With so many underclassmen set to play key roles this year, there’s plenty of reason for optimism for this Skyline program over the next couple seasons. The Raider coaching staff wants to continue to grow a culture that can sustain success as they look to earn respect of their opponents and the Skyline community.
