Vista Ridge Key Players and Storylines
Vista Ridge has a chance to make some school history this year. The Rangers have earned three-straight playoff berths. Never in their 20-year history have they made the postseason in four consecutive years.
Offensively, the Rangers don’t have a quarterback who completed a pass a year ago, and they also graduated four offensive linemen who earned either all-district honors or an all-district honorable mention. That puts even more responsibility on running back Quinn Sszczytowski (841 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns), who will be the centerpiece of the offense. Whoever gets the nod at quarterback will also have some help with reliable slot receiver Kieran Paegle (572 receiving yards and five touchdowns) and 6’0″ junior receiver Will Johnson (246 receiving yards and one touchdown).

Defensively, the Rangers have a strong core in the secondary with senior safeties Cameron Pietrzak (50 tackles) and Dylan Gonzales (53 tackles, four INTs) and senior cornerback Carson Miller (29 tackles and three INTs). Up front, defensive end Ethan Kriel will be needed to set the tone at the line of scrimmage.
Vista Ridge still hasn’t won a playoff game since its state semifinal run in 2015, but the Rangers have been consistent under head coach Chad Scott. The Rangers have key leaders to replace, but enough proven talent remains for them to contend for a historic fourth straight playoff berth.
