Lake Travis Key Players and Storylines
Lake Travis re-established itself as one of the state elites last year, making it back to the state semifinals for the first time since 2021.
Now, the Cavaliers will try to repeat that feat with a rebuilt roster. They have to replace four starters on the offensive line, find a starting quarterback, and reload a defense that graduated nine starters.
6’4”, 280-pound senior Jackson Koeppel is the lone returner on the offensive line and will need to be the Cavaliers’ leader up front. Receiver Westin Smith (801 receiving yards and eight touchdowns) will be Lake Travis’ danger man in the passing game.
It will be an open competition to see who is leading the passing attack this year. Junior Jason Carter is in the mix to potentially be that starting quarterback, but even if he doesn’t win the starting job, the Cavaliers plan to use him in other roles with his “athleticism and explosiveness.”
Defensively, the Cavaliers will be the strongest in the secondary. Safety Jeremiah Strong (68 tackles) is the quarterback of the defense, while Lake Travis can rely on cornerback Luca Antoun (26 tackles, 6 INTs) in coverage. Junior linebacker/safety Carter Lofton (52 tackles) is one of the many Cavaliers who will take on expanded roles this year.

Despite the plethora of new faces, the Cavalier coaching staff believes the depth of athletes they have in the program will shine this year. They believe their culture combined with the physicality and speed from the new crop of starters will allow them to be in the state contender conversation again by the time it matters in November.
