Laredo Alexander Key Players and Storylines
Laredo Alexander missed the playoffs for the first time in four years last season. It was a disappointment that the Bulldogs are determined to rectify right away this fall.
They’ll set the tone in their front seven on defense. Linebacker Juan Godoy (133 tackles, 11 TFLs) is “hard to block” and led the Bulldogs in tackles last year. In front of him, 6’4″, 275-pound sophomore defensive lineman Oscar Alvarado will play a huge role in the trenches alongside explosive defensive tackle Emil Cardenas (57 tackles, six TFLs).
The secondary has several holes to fill, but head coach Edwin Garcia expects the Bulldogs to get better on the back end as the season progresses.
On the other side of the ball, the Bulldogs also have a strong foundation on the offensive line led by 6’2″, 290-pound senior Diego Rodriguez. They also get a big boost in a fully healthy receiver Brennan Kisslinger, who averaged nine yards per carry as a running back in 2024. Quarterback Santiago Vazquez (512 passing yards and three touchdowns) will get the nod as the starter after seeing time a year ago. Garcia has been impressed with the way he’s grown into one of the leaders of the team.
Garcia said that district championships are always the goal for all sports at Alexander. Missing the playoffs is not an acceptable result, so expect the Bulldogs to be plenty motivated on the field in 2026.
