Edinburg Key Players and Storylines
Joe Pena had a debut season to remember at Edinburg. The Bobcats finished 7-5 and won their first playoff game since 2010.
They return their offensive leader too in dual threat quarterback Aidden Sanchez (1,675 passing yards and 15 touchdowns). With senior running back Tyler Galvan (483 rushing yards and three touchdowns) and receiver Nathan Pena (228 receiving yards) also returning, the Bobcats have the skill talent to boast a balanced attack. The question will be in the trenches where all three all-district offensive linemen graduated.
Defensively, Edinburg has to replace its seven leading tacklers. Galvan (44 tackles, six TFLs) will be a key player at linebacker as well. Out on the boundary, cornerback David de la Garza (45 tackles) is a sure tackler, while defensive end Uziel Flores (36 tackles, 6.5 TFLs) can generate pressure up front.
The Bobcats graduated a large senior class, but there are still some key pieces back especially offensively. That will give the Bobcats confidence they’ll have what it takes to build off of last season’s success.
