FORT WORTH — With a little fanfare Wednesday, Texas Wesleyan announced that it is bringing back football to its athletics program for the first time since World War II. President Fred Slabach and athletic director Steve Trachier revealed a Rams helmet, designed in blue and gold, to kickoff a news conference celebrating football’s return.
The private school located along Rosedale Street in East Fort Worth has an enrollment of 2,647 and the football team will compete at the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) level. It will field a competitive team in 2017, 76 years after last playing in 1941.
