There seems to be a common theme of one loss teams battling one another this week across Texas as teams jostle for playoff spots and higher seeding. In the 6A classification out towards the Houston area there will be a matchup as such as Friendswood ( 6-1, 4-1) travels to take on Clear Springs (7-1, 5-0).
Clear Springs has practically breezed through their district opponents as they sit alone on top of District 24-6A with Friendswood and Dickinson in a tussle for second place with one district loss a piece.
The No. 17 team (Friendswood) and No. 21 team (Clear Springs) in our 6A power rankings will have to endure a stiff matchup this week with both teams eyeing district bragging rights.
Friendswood is led by do-it-all athlete Tyler Page who averages 133 passing yards per game and 114 rushing yards per game according to Maxpreps.com.
Clear Springs is loaded with talent in quarterback Will McBride, running back Todd Hudson and Michael Gillaspia. Hudson as a sophomore averages 212 rushing yards per game and McBride averages 192 passing yards per game.
For both teams this game of course provides a great late season matchup that should prepare both teams who will more than likely be in the playoff picture in a few short weeks.
