While it’s playoff time, it’s never too early to look at where the players are headed after they are done with their high school career and how important they could be for their college team.

QB Shawn Robinson DeSoto headed to TCU
With the inconsistent play of current QB Kenny Hill, Robinson could get some playing time early. The Horned Frogs also have Texas A&M transfer Matt Jokel sitting out this year due to NCAA rules, but one would have to think that their would be a quarterback competition going into next season. Robinson is a long shot to start, but he could make an impact before you expect it.

CB/WR Robert Barnes Southlake Carroll, Oklahoma
Barnes senior season ended due to season ending leg injury. Barnes changed the Dragon offense at wide out, but with his size 6’2 185, playing at cornerback the position he recruited to play could bring some much needed size to a Sooner secondary that graduated two players. If rehab goes well, you should be hearing Barnes name a lot next year.

WR Tyrell Shavers, Lewisville, Alabama
At 6’6” 185 lbs and running a 4.3 40, Shavers could be next line for great receivers that go to Bama. Nick Saban has shown that he isn’t afraid to play freshman like Calvin Ridley and Julio Jones, so Shavers could be next in line with Adarius Stewart potentially heading to the NFL draft to get some early playing time.

OT Jake Anderson, Frisco High, Texas Tech
The top guard recruit in the state will head to Lubbock in January and that gives him an early start to be in the starting lineup for game one. Anderson was in a flexbone run offensive scheme in high school, so going to a pass blocking scheme might be a bit of a challenge early on. The 6’6” 300 pounder is something the Tech offensive line can use.

RB Toneil Carter, Langham Creek, Georgia
Georgia has shown it will play its best players early and with Nick Chubb heading towards the NFL that opens up a spot for Carter. With running back depth an issue and how injuries seem to pile up at that position, it seems that Carter is going to have a chance to make a name for himself early in Athens.
