Tom Herman’s staff continues to grow at Texas and it now includes a current NFL running backs coach coming back to school. The university announced that Chicago Bears running back coach Stan Drayton will be joining Herman’s staff as an associate head coach and run game coordinator.
Drayton spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears as their running backs coach. He also has spent time as an assistant at Ohio State, Florida and Mississippi State among others. While at Ohio State, he coached both Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott and 49ers running back Carlos Hyde.
As for his relationship with Herman, this won’t be the first time the coaches will be on staff together. Both coaches were on the same staff at Ohio State from 2011-14. The Cleveland, Ohio native is known in college circles as a top recruiter, but this will be his first coaching job in the state of Texas.
