The UTEP Miners will have a new face at linebacker in 2017. Head coach Sean Kugler announced this morning that the team is adding linebacker Julian Jackson as a graduate transfer from Wake Forest.

Jackson, originally from Dothan, Alabama, was a special teams contributor and backup defensive player for the Demon Deacons. He finished his redshirt junior season with 13 tackles and three sacks.
Back on National Signing Day, Kugler had hinted at the possibility of adding one or two more players via a graduate transfer or a late qualifier out of high school. The Miners were also looking to add some depth at linebacker in their 3-4 scheme and it appears that they have done so with the addition of Jackson. According to Kugler, Jackson will be coming to El Paso in June.
