Patrick Mahomes, the gunslinger from Texas Tech, has gone tenth overall to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mahomes was one of the most controversial prospects in this year’s NFL Draft, he polarized pundits with his huge arm but lack of experience in a traditional NFL offense. He can throw a football 65 yards from his knees, but he’s taken single digit under center snaps, which are the majority of snaps taken in the NFL.

In college, Mahomes was plagued by a bad defense repeatedly, but he still managed to lead the Red Raiders to a bowl game in one of his two years starting. He threw for 11,252 yards at Texas Tech in addition to 93 touchdowns with only 29 interceptions.

Mahomes is going to have to take some time to adjust to the professional game, but in a couple years, he could very seriously break out with the right circumstances.
