A former Texas Tech quarterback has officially gone off the board. Cal quarterback Davis Webb was picked 87th overall in the third round by the New York Giants on Friday night in Philadelphia.
The former Prosper High School quarterback started his college career at Texas Tech who started during the 2013 and 2014 season. After the 2015 season, he announced he was transferring to Cal as a graduate transfer to finish his collegiate career. The starter at Tech that season: Patrick Mahomes.
In his lone season in Berkeley, Webb put impressive numbers throwing for nearly 4,300 yards and 37 touchdowns. Like Mahomes, he does come from an Air Raid offense that puts up tons of numbers and he’ll have his growing pains at the next level.
That said, nothing will take away the fact that Webb can officially say he is an NFL Draft pick.
