District 17-6A was stacked in 2016 and that isn’t expected to change in 2017. Cy Ranch reigned supreme last season with an undefeated regular season and Cy Fair’s only district loss came at the hands of Cy Ranch. Those two programs, along with Cy Ridge and Langham Creek should all be in the mix for the district title this coming season.
Langham Creek loses key pieces on both sides of the ball, including current Longhorn running back Toneil Carter and Cy Ridge will be tasked with replacing the district Offensive MVP in running back Trejon Smith, which is far easier said than done after his 2,191 yards and 29 touchdowns. That said, I see this district coming down to Cy Fair and Cy Ranch once again.
Each of the two must replace plenty, but returns key pieces and I really see this as a two-horse toss up. After building Cy Ranch into a power in short order and taking home the district’s Coach of the Year honors in 2016, I’ll give the head to Gene Johnson and Cy Ranch.

This Houston-area district is a tough one to call because of how close it was last year. Cy Ranch came out on top but Cy-Fair, Cy Ridge and Langham Creek each presented their own challenges.
Both Cy Ranch and Cy Ridge lost a lot of talent due to graduation, but I do like who Cy Ranch brings back on defense including defensive back Rance McInnis. This will be a fun district to watch unfold again in 2017 but I like Cy Ranch just slightly yet again. The Mustangs always seem to find a way to get the job done and I would expect the same again this year.

My nod here goes to Cy Ranch.
I like what the Mustangs bring to the table in terms of history and what they return, and I think it was a shame that they had to compete in one of the strongest regions last year. They’ll experience more competition this year, but I still like their chances to erupt from that tough district.
There’s a lot of talent here to watch for, another team I’d keep an eye on is Cy Ridge. They had a great run last year until injuries derailed them against a Cinco Ranch team making a run. Those teams are going to be good, but my final answer is Cy Ranch.

A very interesting race will develop in the 17-6A district with Cy Ranch, Cy Fair and Cy Ridge ready to grapple with one another in hopes of district supremacy.
Cy Ranch (11-1) came out unscathed in district play last year and will be led by defensive playmakers Rance McInnis, Ryan Fields and Alexander O’Connor on defense to create one of the better secondary units in the state. Cy Ranch was knocked out the playoffs by Katy but showed their strength in the district by staving off any and all threats.
Cy Ridge (11-3) loses 44 seniors from a team that made it to the regional finals for the first time including quarterback Tyson Williams and Offensive MVP running back Trelon Smith that helped the offense average 37 points a game. Cy Ridge fell to both Cy Fair and Cy Ranch yet still had three postseason victories, the most out of their counterparts.
Cy Fair (8-3) had only one district loss and it was to Cy Ranch but return quarterback Cam Arnold and running back Trenton Kennedy and some key players on defense. Their first round exit last year will certainly motivate this team as they look to make a deeper run.
This truly is a toss-up for me but I’m going with Cy Fair for district on this one because of what they are returning and how they tallied of six straight wins to end the season last year.
