Fresh off the heels of an 11-1 season, Cy Ranch was poised to be even better and take the next step in 2017. Now, the Mustangs will be without one of their key targets for 2017. Tight end Logan Compton announced on Thursday that he would be transferring to IMG Academy in Florida.

The rising junior becomes another Texan that has transferred to IMG in recent months that includes former Denton Guyer running back Noah Cain, two San Antonio-area prospects in long snapper Hayden Hood (Clark) linebacker Case Gatlin (Boerne Champion) and Yoakum wide receiver Joshua Moore. Moore has since transferred back to Yoakum for his senior season.
Compton was expected to take on a larger role in the Cy Ranch offense in 2017 following the graduation of tight end Mason Garner. The 6-4 tight end has also seen his recruiting profile rise during the offseason, currently fielding scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Houston and Texas State. With one expected contributor gone, head coach Gene Johnson now is tasked with finding a replacement.
The Mustangs open the 2017 season on August 31 against Katy Cinco Ranch.
