MIAMI-The NFL is a tricky business and any player can be traded, cut, or injured at a moment’s notice; for Frisco Liberty alum Jay Ajayi that moment is today. As first reported by Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald, the Dolphins have traded Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles for a fourth round draft pick.

The Dolphins drafted Jay Ajayi in the 5th round of the 2015 NFL Draft from Boise State and during his 31 games played for the Dolphins, Ajayi has rushed for 1,924 yards and nine touchdowns. This season Ajayi has 465 yards on 138 carries, while his 3.4 yards per carry average has him ranked 44th in the NFL.
Jay Ajayi has yet to find the end zone this season and the Dolphins are the first team since the Rams in the 2013 season, to not have a rushing touchdown during the first seven games of the season. He currently has the most rushing attempts of any running back in the NFL to not score a touchdown. That may soon change, as he heads to a team with a 7-1 record and firmly in control of their own destiny.
The Eagles have been aggressive in their pursuit of a running back, as Darren Sproles was lost for the season with a broken arm and torn ACL. The NFL trade deadline is set for 4:00pm EST this evening and the Eagles made the move for Ajayi to secure their need for a third-down back.
