The NFL announced its regular season schedule this past week, which includes 17 weeks and 256 games of big football action.
Now, the countdown to Sept. 6 begins and the new schedule makes things red hot and exciting. Here is the full season schedule, so let’s look at the season’s top games.
Falcons at Eagles – Sept. 6
The season will kick off on Sept. 6 in Philadelphia as the defending Super Bowl champions take on the Atlanta Falcons. Both of these teams are seeking to repeat a NFC playoff appearance, and can easily see each other in the post-season. Nonetheless, this Thursday night game signifies that football is BACK.
49ers at Vikings – Sept. 9
Kirk Cousins became NFL’s highest paid player with a three-year, $84 million contract, which makes his first game a must-see. What could make this game better? Oh yeah, seeing 49ers hot-streak quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and Richard Sherman take the field and try to show the world what this team is made of.
Texans at Patriots – Sept. 9
Another weekend debut features the Texans and Patriots, where fans can see where Deshaun Watson stands. The dual of Watson versus Brady is a highly anticipated matchup, and if Houston can make a statement in New England, that would be huge for week one.
Patriots at Jaguars – Sept. 16
Here’s an AFC championship rematch for the ages. The Jags looked like the sharpest defense in the league last season, and this will be their biggest test early on. Blake Bortles will want revenge over the Patriots in this one.
Chargers at Rams – Sept. 23
Is this really a road game for the Chargers, or a home game for the Rams? The battle for L.A. is alive and well, so will it be the storied Phillip Rivers or the up and comer Jared Goff that comes out victorious?
Vikings at Eagles – Oct. 7
The first game in the hunt of October will feature a huge NFC matchup between the Eagles and Vikings. Kirk Cousins will dual off against Carson Wentz, which could both very well be their respective division passing leaders.
Cowboys at Texans – Oct. 7
The battle of Texas will be held in Houston, but who will come out victorious—Dak Prescott or Deshaun Watson? Could this be the game that solidifies Watson as the best Texas quarterback?
Eagles vs. Jaguars – Oct. 28
The best game across seas in London will feature a promising NFC versus AFC battle. The matchup will have the U.K. ecstatic and can be a great finish.
Packers at Patriots – Nov. 4
One of the greatest players of all-time in Tom Brady will take on arguably one of NFL’s greatest passers in Aaron Rogers. This is sure to be a classic matchup, and could even be a Super Bowl preview.
Steelers at Jaguars – Nov. 18
The Jaguars and Steelers will relive their AFC playoff game and Pittsburgh wants redemption. Expect Ben Roethlisberger to show up against a strong Jags defense.
Vikings at Patriots – Dec. 2
Here’s a chance for Cousins to prove how elite he can be in a huge matchup against the defending AFC champions. This win would polish either team’s resumes.
Eagles at Rams – Dec. 16
Wentz versus Goff in what could be a preview to the NFC title game. Both of these teams will be vying for a big win for their respective divisions and it would be huge for either of them.
Patriots at Steelers – Dec. 16
To close out the season, here’s a game of what-could-have-been. With the new NFL catch rule, Jesse James would have caught the touchdown, so here’s a big possible redemption game for the Steelers.
