Dickinson product Donovan Green was named the No. 1 tight end in the country for the Class of 2022 by 247sports on Thursday morning.
The 6-foot-4 athlete helped lead the Gators to a 10-2 season before dropping their nine game win streak to Atascocita during a playoff game in November.
Green expressed his gratitude for the honor via social media where he tweeted about his new ranking:
Blessed and honored for @247Sports ranking #1 TE in the Nation. Never satisfied @DemetricDWarren @samspiegs @Josh_Scoop @Perroni247 @AWilliamsUSA pic.twitter.com/qRVDo77e6r

The dual-athlete plays basketball for Dickinson as well where he helped his team reach the state tournament for the first time in decades.
“Playing basketball helps my fluidness on the football field… it helps me with cutting in my routes and agility.” Green said in an interview with VYPE. Green earned 3rd Team All-State tight end and 1st Team All-American tight end in the 2019 season.
Aside from sports, Green excels in academics holding a 3.86 GPA. With a sporting family on one end and a creative family on the other, Green takes a break from sports by painting sneakers and posting his finished products on twitter:
Green first heard the news about his ranking from his father who texted him about the news. “I didn’t expect that,” Green said. Green’s father, Dominque Green, won a state title as a receiver for the La Marque Cougars back in 1995.
This sought out athlete has nearly two-dozen schools vying for his commitment. Schools like Alabama, Baylor, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas, Texas Tech and more have given him offers. His most recent offer came Wednesday from Penn State:
#AGTG Today has been a great day but it got a little better with a offer from @PennStateFball @TylerBowen @DickinsonFB @gators_bb @DemetricDWarren @simplyCoachO @samspiegs @Nextlevelsports @Perroni247 @Josh_Scoop @justamom48XOS @AWilliamsUSA @cantmisssports1 @GPowersScout pic.twitter.com/Y1Cbqeio6u

Even Texas A&M is trying to get him on board. His former Gators teammate, Jalen Wydermyer, led the Aggies in receiving touchdowns last season. After playing under him as a freshman with Dickinson, Green may feel a pull to join forces in College Station.
For now, Green says he’s focusing on “atmosphere and location” along with seeing how each team uses their tight end before deciding what school would be the best fit. His plan is to continue to work on his skills both athletically and artistically.
