It took less than 40 minutes for Texas High School Football to make an appearance in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Detroit Lions selected Ohio State defensive back Jeff Okudah (South Grand Prairie) with the third overall pick on Thursday.
Detroit was in the market for a defensive back after trading Quandre Diggs (Angelton) during the 2019 season and Darius Slay last month. The Lions are coming off a 3-12 season and have not won a playoff game in nearly 30 years.
Okudah helped the Buckeyes win the Big 10 Championship and make it to the CFP Semifinals by posting 29 solo tackles, two forced fumbles and three interceptions in 2019.
Before he was as star in Columbus, Okudah stood out at South Grand Prairie where he was a U.S. Army All-American and was 247Sports’ No. 1 defensive back recruit.
