Former Sam Houston Standout Accused of Gang Rape

Sam Houston High School standout and current San Diego State Aztecs tackle Zavier Leonard has been accused of gang rape. The group allegedly included rookie Buffalo Bills punter and teammate Nowlin “Pa’a” Ewaliko.

The lawsuit alleges that Leonard had sex with a minor outside off-campus housing while she was intoxicated at a party in October; she was repeatedly raped by multiple men. Reportedly, this is an ongoing criminal investigation, as well as a Title IX investigation by the school. Currently, the San Diego County district attorney’s office is deciding whether or not to press charges. Two others were involved in the case, but were not named as of this writing. As per the Times two months ago: “99% of the football players are aware of the 5-person rape so the rest of the student-athletes are left wondering why nothing is being done.”

A three-star recruit by ESPN and two-star recruit by Rivals and 24/7 Sports, Leonard was named his team’s player of the week numerous times. After receiving offers from Incarnate Word and interest from Baylor and Texas State, he chose San Diego State as his alma mater. After playing one game last season, he red shirted and planned on co-starting left tackle with Jonathan Harrison.

A complete investigation is also being conducted by the Bills. They refused to comment on the developing story. As for the San Diego State coaching staff, it’s probable that the program will receive stiff fines for brushing the incident under the rug.
