1A Six Man
Teams Combine For 195 Points in 1st Round of Playoffs
If you like offense, this game was for you!
The Irion County Hornets and May Tigers were in a slug fest in the first round of the 1A D1 playoffs. The two teams combined for 195 points, with the Hornets coming back from 2 touchdowns down in the third to win by 2 touchdowns.
The back and forth game saw the Hornets up 60-55 at half-time. Even for Six-Man football, that was such a high halftime score that most people in Twitter thought it was a typo. In the third quarter, the Tigers seemed to take control. They had 4 touchdowns in the third quarter and took a 9 point lead into the 4th. But, in the 4th, the Hornets came back, took the lead, and put the game away.
It was the first playoff win for Irion County in 51 years. Irion County will face Leverett’s Chapel or Leakey in an area round game.
