Aledo Knocks Off Longview, Reaches 13th State Title

Sani Sport – Machine to help minimize harmful bacteria in PPE

It was a very, very long game.

With Aledo up 17-14 against Longview late in the fourth quarter of their Class 5A Division 1 state semifinal game, the rain came in bunches. Kincaide Stadium was evacuated, with fans seeking refuge in their cars. Play resumed two hours later; there was only 56 seconds left on the clock.

At first, the Bearcats were down 14-3 in the first half, before two rushing touchdowns by Hawk Patrick-Daniels and Davhon Keys in the third quarter outpaced the Lobos. Longview had possession looking to tie or win the game when the delay occurred. When they returned to the field, the Lobos had three straight incompletions.

Aledo finished the game with 32 carries for 212 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Aledo held on to attend their 13th state title game in program history. It’s their sixth title berth in the past seven years. Overall, they are 10-2 in championship matches. The Bearcats will play College Station this Saturday at AT&T Stadium.
